qualified child-care professionals
Connecting hands is managed and led by a team of very experienced and qualified child-care professionals who have many years of relevant experience between them.
We consider training and ongoing learning to be a priority and so all of our leaders are working through their own Management Development programmes, and all our teams undergo continuous development through training packages which combine face to face and e-learning opportunities each month.
We pride ourselves on being a team of experienced child-care professionals who all have the same vision, to support children and young people to overcome the challenges they have faced and to build the skills and confidence they need to face their future with hope and a positive outlook.
We depend upon a high level of commitment from our well-trained and dedicated staff team to deliver consistent and responsive services.
All staff are enrolled on their vocational qualification (QCF level 3/standard 4) on employment (if they don’t already have it). Team leaders are offered the opportunity to train to level 5. Our team are the most valuable resource that we have and we believe in investing in their future too.
We have developed an in-house training package that builds upon the experience of our management team and partner agencies. We provide comprehensive training for all staff from the initial induction to specific training relating to individual children through to our own Management Development Programme (which is available in module form for Team Leaders). We provide e-learning programmes to ensure that all staff receive the required level of knowledge and understanding for their role. We evaluate staff’ development against a set of core competencies.
The staff all know the professional standards we expect them to work to.
We operate an integrated service model where the Residential team work together to produce 24-hour support plans to ensure the approaches and responses are consistent across all areas of the service. We work closely with placing authorities’ Social Workers, other agencies and with families.
With the young person at the heart of their plan, we ensure that goals are clear, realistic, prioritised and agreed and that everyone knows how they can best support the young person to reach their potential.
